HOW DO I KNOW YOUR CATS ARE HEALTHY? PDF Print E-mail

All our kittens are raised indoors and are handled constantly to produce the best possible socialization.

When they go to live with their new parents they take with them a kitten pack including amongst other things food samples,  and a care booklet in case the adoptive parents are new to baby care.

They have of course been vet checked, microchipped, wormed and had their vaccinations. Pet kittens are also desexed before leaving us. They also come with six weeks free pet insurance from PetPlan as well as a written health guarantee.

WHY BUY YOUR BIRMAN FROM A REGISTERED BREEDER?

Purebred kittens are like designer handbags. Sounds crazy but it's true. We all know that there is the authentic designer bag then there are the cheap knock offs. The real designer bags are hand crafted, made with care and attention to detail. They are good quality and you know you are getting what you pay for, the real thing! Cheap knock offs are slapped together in sweatshops from substandard materials. They appear similar to the real thing but look closely and it is clear they are just an imitation. Sadly they often don’t last as long as the real deal because they are not well made.

It is the same with registered purebred kittens. A kitten from a registered breeder comes with a pedigree that proves it is the breed they say it is. Unregistered breeders just breed cats that look like the real thing. The only difference between kittens and designers bags (aside from the fur!) is that kittens from registered breeders don’t cost more. In some cases they cost less especially when they have vaccinations, microchipping and desexing included in the price. Registered breeders follow the standards set by their associations and breed for love not money.
So buyer beware. Don’t make the mistake of buying your kitten from an unregistered breeder. Why have a cheap knock off when you can have the real thing?"

ARE BIRMANS EASY TO CARE FOR? PDF Print E-mail

A Birman requires very little grooming which is one of the major advantages. A weekly comb through will normally be all the maintenance your cat will need. Also, combing a small amount of baby powder through the hair removes greasy build-up and keeps the hair shiny, though your cat will enjoy a daily brush.

Some extra grooming to help eliminate the dead fur may be required in the spring. Check your cats claws regularly, particularly if your cat is always inside. And check the teeth regularly especially as your cat ages.
